HOPKINS, Phyllis May (Jeffery)- age 90 of Pleasant Lake, Yarmouth County, passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 06,2022. She was born in Pleasant Lake, Yarmouth County, N.S. to the late Harvey K. and Gladys M. (Wyman) Jeffery. Phyllis was a chambermaid and waitress at the "Old" Grand Hotel, Yarmouth until moving with her family to Oromocto, NB. Upon her husband's retirement from the Army, she moved back to Yarmouth where she worked at the Mid Town Motel. Phyllis was a long standing member of the Pleasant Lake Baptist Church. She enjoyed the Mariners hockey games, where she always had an emergency suitcase packed for road trips. Being a breast cancer survivor, she was honored to drop the puck during Breast Cancer Awareness month. Phyllis also liked to watch the Blue Jays, game shows, and hockey on TV. She was a loving mother to Shirley (Art) Smith, Yarmouth, Doris (Hal) Dewling, Dartmouth; Ritchie (Donna Parnell), Pleasant Lake; Wayne (Catherine), Plymouth. She was the grandmother to; Kevin (Rosanne) Cavanaugh , Salt Springs ; Shelley Doucette (Cory Harris), Plymouth ; Michelle (Kurt) Laskow-Pooley , Valley; great grandmother to; Ella, Chelsey, Aimee, Amira & Kalon .In addition to her family, she is survived by her brothers, Kenneth Jeffery, Veterans Place Yarmouth; Heber (Eileen) Jeffery, Arcadia; sister, Clara Goodwin of New Beginnings, Yarmouth .She is predeceased by her beloved husband ,Charlie (Hoppy) Hopkins; brothers, Morse & Lindsay Jeffery and sister, Emily Hatfield.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for all their care while Phyllis was a patient, and to all who kept her and the family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be at Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, March 10,2022 from 1-2 pm., with the funeral service following immediately afterward at 2pm. A private internment will take place in Highland Plains Cemetery in Pleasant Lake. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Highland Plains Cemetery Fund or charity of choice.
