Blanchard, Nelson J. (Babe), age 96
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our papa, grand-pere, grand-grand-pere. Nelson passed away at home on May 24, 2022 surrounded by his family. Nelson was born in Springhaven to parents Albenie and Estere (Morris) Blanchard. Other than his parents he was predeceased by his wife Georgina and his siblings Edward, Phillip, Raymond, Ambroise, Maurice, little Loretta (in infancy), Loretta, and Celeste. Left in mourning are his three children, Claire (David), Pearl, and Clark (Brenda). 7 grand-children, Adrienne (Sabe), Ian (Matt), Marielle (Joe), Michelle (Jon), Laura (Stephen), Andre and Chantal. 8 great-grand-children, Riley, Maxx, Gina, Maro, Elio, Byron, Dawson and Ffion. Also survived by his sister Jeannette Mychailuk, sister-in-law Dot Bowers and special family friends Sylvestre and June Muise.
Nelson joined the Canadian Army at age 16 and was discharged after the war. Then he worked with Roy Germain (Electrical) and then a long career as a maintenance supervisor at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Our wonderful papa loved to help anyone in need. He loved us, our children and grand-children. He could be seen running and dancing with the little ones. Papa devoted his life to his church and Catholic faith.
Many thanks to Tri-County VON, the Palliative care team, Wedgeport Legion and Dr. Roland Muise.
