Obituary for Myrtle Mary Hilda Raynard

RAYNARD Myrtle Mary Hilda – age 87, of the Meadow’s Home for Special Care, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 28, 2022, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Stoney Island on April 9, 1934, she was a daughter to the late Douglas and Olive (Fitzgerald) Cunningham. Myrtle worked many different jobs during her career. She worked as a waitress, personal care worker at the Villa St Joseph du Lac, and did private seniors care in her residence. In her spare time, she loved to renovate things, but she especially loved demolition. She also enjoyed doing yard work and was talented with a scythe. Myrtle was also an adherent of Faith Memorial Baptist Church and a member of TOPS. She is survived by her loving husband, Andrew Raynard; children, Wanda Raynard, Charlene Nickerson, Kevin Raynard (Gladys), Bonnie (Michael) Fuller; siblings, Marjorie (Buzz) McSwain; Gloria (late Avery Hurlburt); Hazel (Late Lawrence Doucette); Nora Brittain; Wesley Cunningham (Dorothy); Gilbert and CherylAnn; grandchildren Douglas, Andrew, Laurlee , Kaitlyn, Nicholas and Anthony. Besides her parents, Myrtle was predeceased by her siblings, Jackie, Marven, George, Irvina, Rosie, Anna, and Bruce in infancy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2022, from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 4 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Turpin officiating. Interment to follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or a Charity of Your Choice.
