Obituary for Miriam Louise Fox

Fox, Miriam Louise (Syda), 1924-2020. Just 3 days after her 96th birthday on August 26th, she passed away peacefully at the Villa St. Joseph -du-Lac, Dayton, where she resided for over 2 years, with family at her side. She was the daughter of the late Keith and Jennie (MacAlpine). She spent her early years in Hassett’s, Digby Co. with her grandparents, Douglas and Rosie (Babin) MacAlpine. After graduating from high school, she worked at the John Hancock building in Boston. She met her future husband, Charles Fox, in Summerville, Mass. In 1958 they moved to Port Maitland, NS where she worked at various jobs including Bonda Foods, Tidal View Manor and the Yarmouth Hospital Expansion. She is survived by her sons, Glenn (Lucie) and Charles (Pat); 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson. She was such a kind, gentle, loving lady who will be greatly missed by those who hold a special place in their heart for her. Glenn and Lucie would like to thank the amazing, awesome, kind and compassionate staff at the Woodland Villa for their kindness and care given to Miriam during her stay at the Villa. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Monday, August 31st, from the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be 11 am, Tuesday, September 1st also from the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Don Moses officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Flowers are welcome. Memorial Donations may be made to the S.P.C.A or the Port Maitland Wesleyan Church.
