Obituary for Mildred Alberta Pennell

Pennell, Mildred, 99, of The Villa St. Joseph du Lac, formerly of Brenton, went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2020, with her family by her side. Born in Port Maitland, she was a daughter to the late Albert and Odessa (Floyd) Rose of Darlings Lake. She was the youngest of 10 children and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mildred was a homemaker most of her married life, although working from time to time for Rozee’s Photo Studio and Sears . She also taught sewing classes from home for many years. She truly loved family gatherings, whether it be for Christmas or any other occasion where the opportunity would arise for one. She was a great baker, and anyone who tried her molasses cookies enjoyed them. In later years she filled her time with knitting, jigsaw puzzles, word search and visiting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She is survived by her son, Larry (Audrey) Pennell, Brenton; daughters, Beverly Ryerson, Brenton; Kimberly (Keith) Duncanson, Brenton; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward; sisters, Estella Stevens; Frances Harris; Thelma Rose; Muriel Muise; Jennie Rose; brothers, Herbert; James; Weldon; Clarence; grandson, Wilson; son in law, Gordon. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A Visitation will be Wednesday, September 30, from 1-2 pm followed by a funeral service at 2 pm both from the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Larry Pennell officiating.
