Obituary Mary Lydia (Deveau) Oxner - April 21st, 1938 - November 19th, 2021
Oxner, Mary Lydia (Deveau), age 83 of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease, with family by her side on November 19th, 2021 at The Meadows Home for Special Care. She was born in Yarmouth to the late William Amos and Ida May (Donahue) Deveau. A special thank you to her sisters, especially Dorothy and Joan, who were always there for her and to all the staff of Jay House for their excellent care. Mary loved shopping, sewing, baking and singing. She also worked many jobs over the years to support her family but she most loved just being with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Ann (the late James) Nelson, Yarmouth, Arthur (Kirsten) Nelson, Yarmouth, Maurice (Linda) Munroe, Yarmouth, Cheryl (Edward Schijns) Munroe, Halifax, Helen (Terry Cassie) Munroe, Niagra Falls, Ontario, Rose (John) Mackenzie, Yarmouth, Maria (Jeff) Pitman, Yarmouth, 24 grandchildren, 11 great-grand children, her second husband Chester Munroe, Yarmouth, brothers Ralph (Samantha) Deveau, Billy Deveau, both from Yarmouth, sisters Nora (Jim) Myers, Edmonton, Alberta, Dorothy (the late George) Cottreau, Joan (Gene Sears) McCall, Patricia (Warren) O’Connell, all from Yarmouth. Aside from her parents she is predeceased by her third husband Kenneth W. Oxner, first husband Arthur C. Nelson, son Arthur in infancy, brothers Joseph Oscar (Sonny) Deveau, Yarmouth and John Deveau, Truro. A private family celebration of life is being held. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice.
