Obituary for Mark Douglas Challoner

Challoner Mark Douglas – age 67, of Lake George, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away unexpectedly at the Halifax Infirmary on February 9, 2023. Born in Yarmouth on September 21, 1955, Mark was the son of the late Douglas and Anna (Sweeney) Challoner. Mark was a gearhead and a man’s man. He was a mechanic by trade who operated his own business and had a passion for motorcycles or anything with an engine. He had a great sense of humour and was happiest when spending time with friends or family. Mark had a heart of gold and was always willing to help those who were in need. He was also an animal lover and raised rottweilers. In addition to being a mechanic, Mark was a jack of all trades and even built his own home. He could do whatever he put his mind to. In his spare time, Mark loved to garden, spend time outdoors hunting, and listening to classic rock. He is survived by his partner Gail Winchester; daughter, Crissy (Jeff) Murphy), Lower Sackville; brother, Thomas Challoner; sisters, Susan (Anthony) Goreham; Carrie (Elwood) Rawding; Marsha (Troy) Surette; and grandchildren, Dimitri and Liam Murphy. Besides his parent's Mark was predeceased by his first wife Bertha-Anne. As per Marks’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a time for family and friends to gather on Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel in Yarmouth from 1-3 P.M. Donations in memory may be made to the Friends of T.N.R. Interment will take place at a later date in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.sweenysfuneralhome.net
