Obituary for Marianne Elizabeth Carrier

Marianne Elizabeth Carriere, age 85 of Dayton and formerly of Lorette, Manitoba passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital with family at her side.

Marianne, accountant by trade but known to most as the lovely proprietor of the Voyageur Motel, enjoyed greeting people. She would invite everyone in to share stories and laughs over a pot of coffee. Forming lasting friendships around the globe. She was a great example of human kindness, as her family witnessed her help so many in need over the years.

The lobby chats and laughs are fondly etched in our memories.

There really was nowhere else she wanted to be. Even when she wasn’t working you would still find her at her desk either completing crossword puzzles or talking on the phone for hours with her friends and family. Never missing the opportunity to brag about her children, grandchildren, and her grand puppies.

Marianne had us all at Hello.

Marianne will be remembered by her loving children Ronald Zelmer (Vivienne), Douglas Zelmer (Ann), Allen Zelmer (Diane) and Ted Zelmer (Zelaina) and her five beautiful grandchildren Kellie Zelmer (Ben), Debbie Zelmer-Surette (Ryan), Zack Zelmer (Ashley), Nathan Zelmer and David Zelmer.

Marianne was predeceased by her parents Alfred Carriere and Anna (nee Demarcke), five siblings and other beloved family members. She is survived by her brother Oscar Carriere (Donna) and her sisters Therese and Anne (Barry) and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be a private service for immediate family.
