Obituary for Manfred Atuler Stichler

Stichler, Manfred of Port Maitland was born in Bremerhaven, Germany March 17, 1941, and passed away February 15, 2022 at the age of 80. He was a son to the late Fritz and Herta Stichler. Manfred spent his younger years on ground fish ships off the coast of Europe, further on in his life he focused and had a passion for sales and purchases of seafood's as well as creating his own recipes for herring salads, Solomon Gundy and much more. He started a family and continued on his path, travelling all around the world for his working career and settled in Port Maitland 35 years ago. The remainder of his career was spent in processing and sales of his gourmet Herring delicacies as well as a Lobster buyer and was known for his extraordinary work ethic. He was known by a lot of people near and far and enjoyed going to local wharfs, fish plants and as well as still involved in the seafood industry right up to the end.

He is survived by his long-time companion Penny O’Rourke; daughter Nicole Stichler (Darlings Lake), son Frank and wife Martina Heuer (Germany), Step daughter Jennifer Mullen (Yarmouth), Grandchildren Jessica Stichler (Brett) (Wedgeport), Alyssa Deveau (Darlings Lake) and Carmen (Patrick) Brinkmann (Germany). Aside from his parents he was predeceased by his grandson, Ryan Deveau. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11 A.M. with Paster Keith Moore officiating from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel . Interment in Darlings Lake Cemetery at a later date.
