Obituary for Mabel Cora Roberts

ROBERTS, Mabel Cora – age 83, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2021 at the Villa St. Joseph du Lac, Dayton, Yarmouth Co., N.S. Born in Richfield, Digby Co., N.S. on January 3, 1938, she was a daughter to the late Kenneth and Minnie (Nickerson) Harding. Mabel was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Kemptville, where she taught Sunday school in her younger years. She loved to cook and was known for having a fully stocked pantry with the best homemade baked goods. She was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kemptville Fire Department. In her spare time, Mabel loved to quilt. She was a stay-at-home mom who took great pride in raising her family and many foster children. She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Roberts, Dayton; Elaine Greer, Kemptville; Carla Roberts, Kemptville; Donna (Alden) Fells, Yarmouth; brothers, Hilbert, Ray, Paul (Joan), Murray; sisters, Muriel “Merlie” Crowell; Pearl (Ernie) LaPorte; Pauline Harding; Margaret (John) Gray; Alice (Donnie) Smith; grandchildren, Emily (Matt) Brannen, Rebecca Greer, Michael Fells, Brian Fells, Ronald Fells, Nathaniel Fells; and great-grandchildren; Nevaeh Fells, Myles Fells, Nehemiah Fells, Jalen Fells, and Lennox Fells. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Irven Roberts; sister, Lorraine Crowell; brothers, Lawrence, Victor, Edwin, Chester, Lloyd, Keith, and Earl. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. An invite-only service will be held Saturday, January 1, 2022, at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alden Fells and Pastor Eddie Burrill officiating. Interment will follow in Hatfield Memorial Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Villa St Joseph du Lac or the Hatfield Memorial Cemetery.
