Obituary for Leah Gertrude Hirtle

Hirtle, Leah Gertrude, 86 of Treasured Memories, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on March 29,2020. Born in Gulliver’s Cove, Digby County, she was a daughter to the late Kenneth and Clytie (Banks) Peters. Leah was well known for her sense of humor and being a jokester. She was an identical twin, giving way for a lot of practical jokes between the two of them. She cared for others and would always offer rides to her friends and family when she was able and thoroughly enjoyed her outings to chat with friends at Tim Hortons. She was a woman of faith and was a member of the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church. Late in her years she enjoyed her puzzles , crosswords and sugarless candies. She is survived by daughters, Karen Skinner, Winnipeg; Corrina (Darrin) Brazeau, N.S. ; sons, Allen (Shelley) Freeman, Lower Sackville; Greg (Bonnie) Freeman, Yarmouth; Quentin Freeman, Lower Sackville; brother, Reginald Peters, Wayland, Mass.; 10 grandchildren as well as several great grandchildren. Aside from her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Roger Freeman; second husband, Ray Hirtle; sons, Vernon Freeman; Steven Freeman; Ivan McLaughlin; sisters, Lila; Ann; Alice; brothers, Ralph ; Harvey. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium. A Graveside service will be held at a later date. Interment in Chebogue Cemetery.
