HUBLEY, Laura Isabel Dianne (Balser), age 79, of Yarmouth passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones on November 12th, 2019. Laura was born on June 1st, 1940 to Vera Banks and Raymond Balser in Torbrook, NS. Laura grew up with 10 siblings. Laura worked as a housemother at the Yarmouth School of Nursing for 24 years before retiring in May 2000. She was an avid bingo player and gardener who loved to watch game shows and do puzzles and crosswords.
She was predeceased by her parents, her common-law husband Roy Rhyno, sisters Pamela and Carolyn, brothers Johnny, Neil, and Doug, as well as granddaughter Courtney. Laura is survived by her siblings; Ellen, Richard, Candy, Mary, and Robert, children; Leslie (Jay) Hubley; Halifax, Tina (Danny) Wile; Bridgewater, Nelson (Cheryl) Rhyno; Halifax, Dianne (David) Hubley; Saskatchewan, Pamela (Steven) Melanson; Yarmouth, Melinda (Henry) Rhyno; Short Beach, step-son Roy (Nancy) Rhyno; Yarmouth, her 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and beloved family cat Oreo. Visitation will be held Friday November 15,2019 from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday November 16, 2019 also from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2pm with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain Cemetery. Donations to VON, The Canadian Cancer Society or Yarmouth Argyle Home Support Services.
