Obituary for Kenneth "Ken" Nicholl

Kenneth Malcolm Nicholl passed away peacefully with strength and grace, at home on January 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Ken was born March 28, 1950, in Harvey Station, New Brunswick to the late Parker and Olive (Earle) Nicholl.
Ken was a selfless and well-respected member of the community. He was recently recognized for 35 years of service as a volunteer firefighter for Valley & District Fire Department. Ken was a founding member of the Coldbrook Lion’s Club and served more than 25 years in the Yarmouth Lion’s Club.
His friendly nature led Ken to a sales career. He spent 25 years selling advertising for the Yarmouth Vanguard. He loved his work, as well as his clients and colleagues.
Ken was known for his work ethic and easy-going attitude. Family was important to Ken, and he was happiest when spending time with loved ones.
He leaves behind devoted wife of 40 years, Connie (Raynard); children, Stephen; Crystal (Dean) Parsons; Misty Amirault; Matthew (Alicia) Moses; and Brad (Melissa). Ken became lovingly referred to as “Poppy” with the birth of his grandchildren, Christopher; Emily; Logan; Georgia; London; Victoria; Rylan; Jace; and Hudson.
Ken is also survived by siblings, Jim (Barb), Yarmouth; Sylvia (Mike) Meisner, Bedford; In-laws, Leona Nicholl; Ann (Aubrey) Churchill; David (Kathy) Raynard; Kathy (Charles) Mason; Randy (Bev) Raynard; Tim Raynard; Michael (Danette) Raynard; Donna Pothier; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by parents, Parker and Olive (Earle) Nicholl; brothers, Neil and Clyde; niece, Karen; and brother-in-law, Raymond Pothier.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium. Visitation will be Monday, January 16,2023 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, January 17,2023 at 1 p.m. both from the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kevin Myers officiating. Interment to follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Tri County VON, Canadian Red Cross or Charity of your Choice.
The family would like to thank VON, especially Kayla Wilson, RN whose comfort and support was appreciated in his final hours. Ken received extensive medical support over the years, and Dr. Roland Muise provided exceptional and compassionate care.
