Obituary for Karin VanAmburg

VanAmburg, Karin – age 75 of Argyle, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on May 25, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Pubnico Nova Scotia on September 16, 1942 she was a daughter to the late Alfred and Juanita Goodwin. Karin was a devoted and attentive wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in her family. She worked alongside her husband Guy VanAmburg running their motel “The Flying Dutchman” in Bridgewater N.S. and “The Flying Dutchman” restaurant in Tusket, Yarmouth County. She had a 14-year battle with cancer and after enduring many operations she still had great optimism and kept her spirits high right until the end. Karin loved to spend time with her husband outdoors and was always happy to accompany him sailing or canoeing. During the past few years she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and crosswords. She is survived by her husband Guy VanAmburg; daughter, Angela VanAmburg, Halifax; son, Andre VanAmburg, Dartmouth; sister, Janice (Victor) Reede, Pubnico; grandchildren, Edie, Ainslee, Clair, Kaelan; and many nieces nephews and friends. Besides her parents Karin was predeceased by her brother, Sidney Goodwin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A celebration of life will be held Saturday June 2, 2018 from 2-4 at the Glenwood Community Hall. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
