Obituary for June Dawn Hopkins

June Dawn Hopkins (nee Whitenect)
Passed away December 3, 2022 with family by her side at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born June 14, 1941 in Murchyville, Halifax County to the late John Whitenect and Alice (Mitchell) Whitenect.
June graduated as a nurse CNA (LPN) in 1962. She began her career working at the Halifax Infirmary. She finished her career working at Nakile Home for Special Care, retiring at the age of 67. June Loved her Saturday tea outings with her friends, playing cribbage on Tuesday, the birds at her feeders and gardening the flowers. She also enjoyed going to the beach, bowling and playing Yahtzee. She had a very crafty side, making quilts, knitting, crocheting, primitive crafts and baking. She even knitted mittens, socks, booties and hats for a children’s hospital yearly. She loved her family dearly and will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor.
She is survived by and will be sadly missed and mourned by her loving husband of 41 years, Gary Hopkins; her children, Frances Tabb, Sidney Tabb, Raymond (Michele) Tabb, Wayne (Tricia) Hopkins and Natasha Hopkins; siblings, John (Donna) Whitenect, Donald (Elaine) Whitenect, David (Minnie) Whitenect, Terry (Julie) Whitenect, Joy Miller and Diane Gazzola; her grandchildren, Melissa (Brad) Nicholl, Stephanie Tabb (Corey), Timothy Tabb, Philip (Sherri) Tabb, Sidney Doucette, Starr (Yuta) Shimizu, Skye Tabb, Bailey Hopkins, Eleanor Hopkins and Hope Hopkins; 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; in-laws, Nettie Hopkins, Karen (Bill) Thompson and Milford Hopkins.
She was predeceased by sisters, Shirley Nauffts and Bonita Whitenect; brothers, Dale Whitenect and Robert Whitenect; nephew, Dean Whitenect; niece, Krista Borden; in-law Romie. Visitation will be Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Rev. A.D Bill Newell officiating. Memorial Donations in June’s memory may be made to Nakile Home for Special Care.
