Finlay, Josephine (Phea) Della
Josephine passed away on February 13, 2021, age 96. Born in Hebron, Yarmouth County, she was a daughter of Glindon & Stella (Luker) Moses. She is survived by her daughters, Gayle (Gary) Williams of South Ohio, and Meredith (Glen) Hazelton of Deerfield. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Robert (Erin) Williams, Dylan Goodwin, and Ashley (Cody) Goodwin; great-grandchildren, Morgan Williams, Ty Williams, and Sebastian Bethune; as well as several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert John Finlay (2004). They celebrated their 60th Anniversary in June 2003. She was also predeceased by brothers, Lloyd (Dorothy) Moses, Vernon (Agnes) Moses, and sisters, Muriel (Forrest) Bain, Ruth (Ronald) Smith, and her twin sister, Rosaline (Stephen) Whitehouse. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her younger years she was active in many community and church activities such as the Women's Institute, Kitchen Ministry, and Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed hosting special family occasions and her favourite past-times were baking and reading. For the last 3 years, she lived at Vancouver Place, Yarmouth, and the family wishes to thank Ewa and the special girls who work there for their wonderful care and always going above and beyond. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be from 1 — 2 pm, Wednesday, February 17th, Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm., both in the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, COVID 19 protocols will be in place. (service will be live streamed on the Sweeny’s Funeral Home website.) Interment will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. Family flowers only.
