Obituary for James "Nelson" LeBlanc

LEBLANC, James “Nelson” – age 100, of Veteran’s Place, Yarmouth N.S., passed away peacefully on April 4, 2021. Born on January 24, 1921, he was a son to the late James Alvin LeBlanc and Glady’s (Mack) LeBlanc. In his early years, Nelson worked at a farm on the top end of Argyle Street in Yarmouth. He then answered the call and joined the war effort spending four years overseas during WW2. After returning home, Nelson worked for the Yarmouth Cotton Mill/Dominion Textiles until his retirement at the age of 60. He was known to be a talented bowler who played on many teams. Nelson also enjoyed deer hunting and rabbit hunting with his hound, "Blackie”. He is survived by his daughters, Louise (Michael) Wood, Yarmouth; Donna (Edward) Sears, Woods Harbour; son-in-law, Gilles Pothier; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Francis LeBlanc; daughter, Anne Pothier; stepdaughter, Marie William; sisters, Dorothy, Pauline and Helen. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021, from 1-2 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. At 2 P.M., a funeral will commence with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery.
