Obituary for Helen Louise Muise

Helen Louise Muise – age 93, of Yarmouth, N.S. passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth on December 12, 1929, she was a daughter to the late Edward J. and Catherine E. (Surette) Muise. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.

She worked at the Cosmos Imperial Cotton Mill and Zellers until retirement. Helen enjoyed doing ceramics, and BINGO, was a lover of music, and was an original member and sang in the 9 a.m. choir at St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral. She was an Extraordinary Eucharist Minister and Lector as well as a Sunday School Teacher.

She is survived by her children Ted (Shannon) Muise, Milton Highlands; Peter E. (Florence) Muise, Comeau’s Hill; Anthony (Shelley) Muise, Yarmouth; Elaine Smith, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Jimmy, Lacie, Lauren, Tyler, Cheryl; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Lucas, Rowan, Brandon, Shyla, Cole, Tatum. Besides her parents Helen was predeceased by her husband, Peter Muise; siblings, William “Bill” Muise, Edward Muise, Neil Thibodeau, Kaye Buckley, and Howard in Infancy; and son-in-law Blair Smith.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium. Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Monday, November 20, 2023, from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 10 a.m. from St Ambrose Co-Cathedral with Father Henry Smolenaars officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Following the interment, a reception will be held in the St. Ambrose Jubilee room. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at
