Obituary for Gilbert "Trueman" Walter Browett

Gilbert Walter Trueman Browett - age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday Oct 27, 2023 at The Meadows, Yarmouth NS. Trueman was born on September 26, 1934 to Lesley and Margaret (Finlyn) Browett in Vegreville, Alberta. He spent most of his youth growing up in British Columbia. He spent a few years in the Navy, serving onboard aircraft carriers HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure. During his time in the Navy, he took courses at Bethany Bible College in Yarmouth. While at Bethany, he met his first wife Ann Hilton, the mother of his children. After leaving the Navy, Trueman drove buses for Acadian Lines and then drove a school bus. Most of his working life was spent driving tractor trailers near and far. He was a founding member of the Yarmouth Wesleyan church, a layman minister at various locations, and would later serve overseas on mission trips to Suriname and Haiti with his wife Gail.

Trueman is survived by his wife, Gail (Quigg) Browett, and his chosen children Beth (Tim) Nickerson, David Browett, Ronnie (Shelly Corkum) Browett, and Debbie (Steve) Thibeau. And by step children Mark Chamberlin and Kelli Cassidy. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. His grandchildren and great grandchildren adored him and knew him as Grampie Trueman or Pa. He was predeceased by his first wife Ann (Hilton), and his brother Jim.

There will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment at the Nickerson Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at The Meadows for the wonderful care that they provided. A special thank you to Dr. Webster for his loving care of Trueman.
