Obituary

Gerald passed away peacefully on February 3, 2020 at his home in Tusket Falls. Born in Saulnierville, Digby County on November 28, 1946, he was the son of the late Roy & Mary (Comeau) Jacquard. Gerald spent the first part of his life on Porter Street in Yarmouth until he married in 1969. He began his career as a marine engineer on the M.V. Bluenose where he worked for eight years. The remainder of his sea life was spent mainly in the offshore aboard supply vessels. The last twenty years of his working career was with Nova Scotia Power operating the Tusket Combustion Turbine Station. Gerald enjoyed gardening and working around his property. He spent his retirement years with his family and loved hiking, paddling, travelling with Carol. Gerald volunteered for many years on the Board of Directors of the Lake Vaughan Fire Department and with several of the community cemeteries. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be forever missed by his wife, Carol (Nickerson), his children Nicole of Tusket Falls, Daniel (Courtney) of Tusket Falls, his beloved grandchildren Matthew (Reaghan) Fry, Clara Fry both of Tusket Falls and his sister Brenda (Joseph) Jacquard of Port St. Lucie, Florida. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends all of whom he thought so much of. He is also missed by his faithful dog Bandit. In accordance with Gerald's wishes there will be no service. Following cremation burial will take place at a later date in the Nickerson Family Cemetery at Summerville, Yarmouth County. Donations may be made in his memory to the Giles Boudreau Memorial Fund, the VON or a charity of choice.

Gerald was a wonderful man with such a beautiful heart. -Always a gracious host, along with Carol, and so much fun with that bright alive “love of life “look in his eyes. Tusket Falls will not be the same without him.
