Obituary for George " Skip" Hersey

Hersey, George “Skip”, age 75 passed away June 19,2020 at home. Born in Yarmouth he was a son to the late Alice (Hersey) Orth and stepson to late Roy Orth . “Skip” as everyone knew him was an all-around great guy. He was a friend to all and treated you with utmost kindness and respect. He worked at the old IGA store in Yarmouth as a meat cutter, managed the Yarmouth SPCA, Yarmouth Pool Hall and lastly King Billiards before his retirement. In his spare time Skip enjoyed playing pool and had a unique talent being the only one in the area who would fix and assemble pool tables. He was an avid reader, and loved watching everything news on CNN. He is survived by his spouse of 38 years, Debra Barager; step daughter, Angie (Gordon) Kerr, Tusket; grandchildren, Damion Fraser and Caitlyn Kerr; sisters, Darlene Brooks and Cindy (Greg) Webster, both of Ontario; nephews, Steven and Nathan; niece, Charlene (Murray) Stevenson and 2 great nieces . Besides his mother and step father he was predeceased by his very special Aunt, Vera Hersey; son,Shawn Hersey; and brother-in-law, Doug Brooks. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
