NEWCOMBE, Gary Lawrence – 77, of Yarmouth passed away peacefully at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on May 11, 2023. Born October 27, 1945 in Truro, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Georgina (Skipper) Newcombe. Gary was a Licensed Electrician by trade and worked in various mines throughout Canada. His second career, which he was very passionate about, was as a Support Worker with YACRO. He loved watching sports and in his younger years he enjoyed playing darts, curling and playing golf, which he was a member of Yarmouth Links for many years. In recent years, he could be found at McDonald’s in the morning having coffee with the guys. He is survived by wife, Dorothy; daughter, Treina (Todd) Saint, Buffalo, NY; son, Jimmy Newcombe, Oshawa, Ont.; stepsons, Ray (Rhonda) Smith, Yarmouth Co., Scott MacMullen (Cora Smith), Carleton; brothers, Mark and Michael Newcombe, both of Truro; sisters, Charlotte (Kenneth) Roberts, Moose River, Sanda McCully, Truro; grandson, Nolan; nine step grandchildren. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium. As per Gary’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. Donations in Gary’s memory may be made to an animal rights/rescue organization of your choice.
