Evelyn Mary Atwood Obituary
Evelyn Mary Atwood of Wedgeport/Brazil Lake passed away peacefully on August 7, 2022, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Wedgeport on February 17, 1919, to Nazarie Doucet and Adele Doucet (nee Jacquard), she lived most of her life in Brazil Lake and the last 20 years with her daughter in South Ohio. Evelyn was an impressive 103 years old. Evelyn was a long-time member of the Brazil Lake Wesleyan Church and worked many jobs to support her family over the years. She loved to travel and took many memorable trips both near and far. Above all Evelyn loved her family unconditionally. They were so fortunate to have had Evelyn’s sweet personality shine through her entire life, never complaining and smoothly passing through any adversity. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Roger) Patton; Wanda Hazlett; Marsha Harrison; grandchildren, Nicole; Tammy; Stacey; Dana; Hayley; Jared; as well as 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Evelyn is predeceased by her husband Sheldon Atwood; sisters, Georgine Hicks; Alice Clements; brothers, James; Percy; Ernest; Herman; Gilbert; and grandson, Shay. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9th, from 7-9 pm at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 10th at 1 pm at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Keith Moore & Pastor Kevin Meyers will be officiating. Interment will take place in Pleasant Valley Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Brazil Lake Wesleyan Church. Thank you to Home Care and the Tri-County VON for all the special care she received, they were just like family to her. Also a special thank you to Dr. Davis and Dr. Muise as well as ER nurses.
