Obituary for Ernest George Pothier

POTHIER Ernest George
It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Ernest Pothier, announce his passing on December 25 2021 at Treasured Memories Nursing Home after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on August 21, 1939, he was the son of the late Marc and Bernadette Pothier. In his early years, he was a sword fisherman and offshore scallop fisherman, as well as a jail guard at the old Yarmouth Co. Jail. Dad was a Jack of all trades and an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, recreational fishing and gardening. In his retirement, he and mom enjoyed spending lots of time at their camp with friends and family. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Sherman ) Pothier and by sisters Jean, Marg and brothers Lawrence and Thomas. He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Alan ) Clarke, and Mari Jo ( Sandy ) Doucette and son Ernest ( Lorraine) Pothier; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeff Clarke, Cody and Jamie Pothier and Tyler Doucette. Great-grandchildren, Sophie and Nolan Clarke, Kasey Pothier and Seairra and Malcolm Pothier; sisters, Shirley, Rose, Carol, Pauline, Betty, Rose Marie and Helen and brothers Jimmy, Leonard, Charles and Paul. As well as lifelong friends Angela and Bruce Langford of Sarnia, Ontario. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Shelly Reardon and the staff of Treasured Memories for their compassionate and devoted care of Dad. Also, the Yarmouth V.O.N. and his palliative care team. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium Yarmouth. There will be no visitation or funeral service at his request. Burial will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Gilles Boudreau Cancer Fund or the Yarmouth V.O.N.
