Obituary for Emma Rose Hattie

HATTIE, Emma Rose - It is with sadness and a bit of relief, that we announce the passing of our mom on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, following a long battle with complications from strokes. Three of her children and a son-in-law were by her side at "The Meadows". Emma was the second child of Rene & Loretta (Hubbard). She was born, June 7,1932, raised and lived much of her adult life in Sand Beach. She was a dedicated wife and mother and kept an immaculately clean house, loved her plants, flower gardens, rhubarb patch and currant bushes. Following her husband Hugh's death, 20 years ago, she rekindled a childhood friendship, which then blossomed into love and adventure in traveling to Mirimichi, Quebec and every winter to Florida. She leaves behind her fiancé, Gerald Smith; 5 children - Rickey (Patricia), Brian (Lucy), Karen Bolstad, Linda (Garry) Thayer and Donna Sharon (Duke) Greene. Her family tree has many new branches with 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and 4 great-greats. She is also survived by sisters, Evalyn Robichaud, Diane (Austin) Saulnier and brother Arnie. She was predeceased by husband, Hugh; grandson, Tyler Hattie; sister, Lena (Bruce) Gallagher; brothers, Clarence ,Leonard (Vera) and her parents.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at St. Ambrose Cathedral, at 10 am, Father Henry Smolenaars officiating. Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that everyone attending please wear a mask. Donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. The service will be live streamed on the St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral Website.
