Anthony, Emily Edna- age 90, of Central Chebogue. Our beloved mother and grandmother was called home to Heaven on August 3, 2019, at home, with family at her side. Born January 25th, 1929 in Scotch Village, Hants Co., she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Myrtle (Sanderson) Hazel.

Emily was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She raised her four children while working alongside her husband, Bob, to run their company, H.V. Anthony Greenhouses, Ltd. She was often found out in Greenhouse #1, planting and tending to all the seedlings. Bob & Emily enjoyed many travels, the highlight of which was a cross-country road trip to the Yukon, successfully locating the resting place of Bob’s grandfather. She was a member of the Opal Rebekah Lodge. She was a faithful member of the Central Chebogue United Baptist Church, and continued though its amalgamation into New Heights Baptist Church in Arcadia. While her health prevented her from attending church in later years, Emily’s faith was an example to us all, and her prayers for her family sustained us. Emily lived the example from scripture: “Rejoice in hope, be patient in affliction, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob); son, Wendel; grandson, Ryan; and all of her siblings: Evelyn (Nathan) Porter, Waldo (Kay) Hazel, Helena (Merton) Burgess, Gwendolyn (Claude) Rogers, and Thelma (Perley) Mosher.

She is survived by 3 children: Blaine (Stella), Dayton; Leland (Dianna), Chebogue; Sharon, Dayton; and daughter-in-law Rebecca, Chebogue. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Alana, Keir, Meighan (Morley Knight), Jeffrey, Harold (Gina), David (Michelle), and Alexander (Coral-Lee). Emily loved her great-grandchildren dearly: Iain, William & Benjamin, Jonah & Emily, Tristen, and Kyla. Emily is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, and their families.

Our heartfelt thanks to all the medical and homecare personnel: Dr. Tom Muise, Dr. Roland Muise, Dr. Mark Riley, Dr. Lisa Gillis and the Palliative Care staff, Gertrude Sweeney and Family 1st Medical, Home Care, VON, and the multiple private homecare providers who all gave Emily their best. You all made it possible for us to fulfill her wish to remain at home.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 6th at 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 7th, at 2 p.m. at New Heights Baptist Church in Arcadia, with Rev. Craig Minard officiating. Interment will take place in the Central Chebogue Cemetery. Donations may be made to New Heights Baptist Church, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or to the charity of your choice. Sharon and family, I can't tell you sad I was when I read your Mom's obituary on the Sweeney's website. Please
forgive me for not being there for the service, had I known before I read about it, I certainly would have been there.
Your Mom was such a beautiful person inside and out, she was a kind, giving and a dedicated worker with the family
Your Mom loved you all dearly, and was so proud of all of you.
I so enjoyed our little chats when we'd see each other, she always asked about Mum, and how she was doing.
May God Bless you and your family, as you mourn, remember and heal. Love Alice xo

Sharon, Blaine and Leland: Please forgive me if this is a repeat. I sent a condolence message earlier in the week but on checking today I could not find it on the site. I just wanted to be sure you are aware that you have been in my thoughts since I read of your Mom's passing. Your parents worked hard throughout their lives and passed on to you their work ethic which has earned the respect of the business community as well as the customers you have served. The support and dedication of the Anthony Family to the municipal and farming communities has been most beneficial to the region. My Deepest Sympathy to all of you. Most Sincerely.

To Emily's family:
The family of the late Vivienne (Hazel, Begin) Maynard wish to extend our sincere condolences to you. My husband, Bruce and I (Debby) visited with Emily and her daughter-in-law two summers ago. It was lovely to spend time with this gracious lady; she reminded me so much of Aunt Myrtle, whom I had spent lots of time with when I was small. Our mom, Vivienne, just passed on July 5th. The last of her siblings, too, she was 98.
It is a very hard time in life to lose your mom and realize we are now the elders. I miss my mom everyday. Bless you for taking such good care of your mom. You will have no regrets.
