Edward Leroy Miller – age 81, of Greenville, Yarmouth County, N.S. passed away on October 11, 2022, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Edward was born in Jordantown Nova Scotia on February 10, 1941, and was a son to the late John and Francis Miller. Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Edward held several different jobs during his career. He first started with the Department of Highways, then moved to doing roofing in Halifax, Aberdeen Paving, and finally as a janitor at Yarmouth High School before his retirement. In his spare time, Edward was an avid sports fan who had a love of boxing and an obsession with the Toronto Blue Jays. He also enjoyed watching UFC and wrestling. Many hours were spent meticulously maintaining his yard which he was extremely proud of. Edward was also a bit of a pro at shuffleboard and earned the nickname “Steady Eddy”. He is survived by his loving wife Myrtle (Crawford) Miller; children, Rosemeary (Michael) Miller; Cheryl (Jason) Francis; Diane Goodwin; Blair (Joanne) Bishop; Roy (Lori) Miller; grandchildren, Candice, Michael Jr., Jelissa, Megan, Jenym, Justin, Jessica, Austin, Matthew, Jade, Emile, Eden, Roman; and 8 great-grandchildren. Edward was the last surviving member of his immediate family and besides his parents was predeceased by his son, Michael Crawford; siblings, Greta (Hubert); Edith (Wensel); Addy (Harold); Doris (Wentworth); and Sidney. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 1-2 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel where a Celebration of Life will start at 2 P.M. with Rev. William Crawford officiating. The service will be live-streamed on Sweeny’s Funeral Home website. Interment will follow in Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
