Obituary for Earl Joseph Babin

Babin, Earl Joseph – age 74, of Yarmouth, and formerly of Sluice Point passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on July 8, 2022. Born in Yarmouth on February 11, 1948, he was a son to the late Beatrice (Amirault) and Antoine Babin. Earl left home at the age of 17 and worked in Ontario for 4 years. He then came back home to Nova Scotia where he worked at several car dealerships, Tri-Star Industries, and Mackenzie Security, and was a school bus driver for 17 years. He was also a Provincial Constable with the justice department and earned the nickname “Repo Man” which he also did for 25 years. In his spare time, Earl loved to go on drives and drink coffee. One of his favourite things to do was cooking, especially rappie pie, and going grocery shopping daily for the social outing. He also loved to have fires in his firepit and was known for his great sense of humour and practical jokes. Earl also had a love of travel, adventures and taking the path unknown in search of hidden gems, fun times and good food. The greatest joys of his life were his family, especially his grandchildren and his dog “Mookie”. He is survived by his loving wife, Marcella Rose (Bourque); daughter, Erica (Chris) Babin-Dillman; siblings, Ray Babin, Ella Muise, Bertha (Jamie) Brannen, Walter (Gloria) Babin, Marilyn d’Entremont; sister-in-law, Betty Babin; grandchildren, Isabelle and Benjamin Dillman; numerous nieces and nephews; and former spouse Paulette Babin who the family would like to thank for her kindness and compassion shown toward Earl, especially during the last year. Besides his parents, Earl was predeceased by his stepmother, Marjorie Babin; brother, Roderick, sisters, Alice Surette, and Donna Babin; and brothers-in-law, Louis d’Entremont and Delbert Muise; and best friend, Zane Leblanc. Cremation has taken place under the care of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. As per Earl’s wishes, there will be no service. In his memory tell someone a joke, even a dirty one like Earl used to tell, to brighten their day. Donations in memory may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund or a charity of your choice. Online condolences are available at: sweenys@sweenysfuneralhome.net

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Yarmouth Regional Hospital 4-South for their amazing care.
