Obituary for Doris Ellen MacKinnon
Doris Ellen (Weedmark) Mackinnon, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born December 19, 1945 in Regina Saskatchewan. She spent most of her younger years in Oshawa Ontario before moving to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, a place she felt very proud to call home. She worked forty plus years with Southwest Health in the Dietary Department and thoroughly enjoyed serving and working with the public.
She was an enthusiastic bingo player and also spent much time watching all sports on tv and doing crossword puzzles. Anyone who knew Doris knew how much she loved her family.
She is survived by her husband Rodger Mackinnon of (Yarmouth County NS), son Glen Cogswell (Yarmouth NS), daughter Rhonda (Bobby) Thibault (North Chegoggin, NS ) granddaughter Wanda Lee Hatfield (Carleton, NS), grandson Peter Joseph Hatfield (Edmonton, AB) great grandchildren Journey, Bowman and Coralee Burrill (Carleton, NS)
Doris was predeceased by her parents Harry and Orma Weedmark of Whitby, Ontario and sister Eleanor Whitfield of Uxbridge,Ontario
To honor Doris’ wishes there will be no funeral service as she will be cremated and the family will have a private celebration of life at a later date. For those who would like to honor her memory, in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her name to Yarmouth Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
