Obituary for Deborah Ann Cook

COOK Deborah Ann (nee Nickerson)- Age 70, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2020, at her home in Yarmouth County. Born in Yarmouth on April 17, 1950, she was a daughter to the late Herman Nickerson and Hilda Nickerson. Debbie worked as a floor manager and restaurant manager at Zellers for 17 years and then Mackenzie Monitoring and Register.com. She loved puzzles and could often be found doing them while having her morning coffee sitting in front of the window. She adored her grandson, Sheldon and loved to go to his KIDZACT performances and baseball games. Debbie also loved NASCAR and going to the local races at Lake Doucette Motor Speedway with long time friend Jim Tunnicliff. She had a love of Christmas, and the house was always decorated with villages and ornaments from November until almost February. Debbie loved to spend time near the ocean, whether it was going to the lighthouse, the beach or the waterfront. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Brannen (Joe Rhyno), Tusket; Gina (Greg) Giroux, Yarmouth; brother, Mike (Yvonne) Nickerson, Milton Highlands; sisters, Judy (Doug) Trefry, Springhaven; Kathy Johnstone, Overton; stepmother, Eunice Nickerson, Yarmouth; brothers, Karl Nickerson (Rose), Milton Highlands; Mark (Angela) Nickerson, Milton Highlands; sister, Kim Nickerson-Jacquard, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Sheldon Brannen, René, Nicholas, Gregory Giroux; nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Allen Nickerson, and nephew Chris Trefry. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, September 28, 2020, at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will follow in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
