With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of David Robert LeBlanc, age 79, of Yarmouth, NS on Friday, December 20, 2019, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
David is survived by his sister, Doreen (Gary Tinkham), of Dartmouth NS; sister Irene Holden (Don Balletto), of Vancouver, BC; niece, Jennifer Tinkham (David MacPhee); nephews Rick and Kevin LeBlanc and great niece Miriam MacPhee; sister in law Louise (Eric) Schurman of Berwick and nephews Brad, Kevin and Dan. He was predeceased by his wife and the love of his life, Jacqueline (LeMaire); parents, Andrew and Mary Frances LeBlanc; parents in law, George and May Glode; and his brother, Andrew Jr.
David was born on June 18, 1940 in Yarmouth, NS. He worked for many years in and around Yarmouth, including at the Yarmouth Royal Store, the Yarmouth Red and White store, Cosmos Textile Mill and later at the fish plant in Pleasant Lake, until his retirement. David loved camping with Jackie and her parents in the Valley and was an avid bowler where he and Jackie accumulated many trophies. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. David loved all sports but especially the Red Sox. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind and funny person with a big heart.
David is resting at Sweeny’s Funeral Home on Main St. where a visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 22 from 7pm to 9pm. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11am on Monday December 23, at St. Ambrose Cathedral, with a burial and reception to follow. Father Pat O’Meara will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David’s life. The family would like to thank Jenna Atkinson and the staff at New Beginnings for their wonderful care of David, as well as the nurses of the 3rd floor East at the Yarmouth Hospital for providing comfort in his final days.
