Obituary for Daniel Nazaire Vacon Sr.

Vacon, Daniel Nazaire – age 83. of Yarmouth passed away peacefully in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on May 6, 2023, with his family by his side. Born in Quinan on July 28, 1939, he was the son of the late Jobie and Rose Emma (Doucette) Vacon. In his younger years, Daniel worked at a machine shop in the United States before returning home to Nova Scotia where he drove tractor-trailers for a living. Daniel was a classic car enthusiast and loved anything with an engine. He would take his grandchildren to car shows near and far. Daniel was also known for his cooking abilities and made many meals for friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Joyce (Ryerson); daughters, Shelly (David) Nickerson; Patricia (Perry) Boudreau; Jacqueline (Bob) Kelley, Calgary; son, Daniel Jr; brother, Richard; grandchildren he adored, Zach Deveau, Kyle Nickerson, Justin Boudreau, Brandi Nickerson and great-grandchild Allison Dupus. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his great-grandson, Daniel Fitzgerald and his brother Ronald. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral service will take place Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11 A.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Father Pat O’Meara officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. The interment will be in Brooklyn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the Liver Foundation or the Brooklyn Cemetery.
