Obituary for Colton James Cook

COOK, Colton James – age 26, was taken from us far too soon on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Born in Yarmouth on January 4, 1994, he was the son of Shawn and Stacey (Ryerson) Cook. Colton was a lobster fisherman, a welder by trade, and did construction work with his father. He loved working on vehicles and could often be found getting his hands dirty in the shop. If his hands were clean, there was something wrong. He was kind, compassionate and wouldn't think twice about helping others, especially the elderly in the community. He adored his grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her. No matter what, he always had that big "Pennell" smile on his face. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to be in the woods fishing and hunting, particularly pheasants. Besides his parents, he is survived by his loving sister, Ashley (Andreas) Cook-Holder, Australia; grandparents, Danny and Murial Cook, Brenton; and Beverley Ryerson, Brenton; and niece, Tabitha Holder. He was predeceased by grandfather, Gordon Ryerson; uncle, Wilson Ryerson; cousin, Jennifer Rozee. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 2 p.m. from New Life Church with Rev. Larry Pennell officiating. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a limited number of seats will be available in the church for immediate family and close friends. Speakers will be set up outside for those who wish to attend but cannot be inside. The service will be live-streamed from Sweeny's Funeral Home Facebook Page. Donations in memory may be made to the Hilltop Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Colton's friends, and the community, for all the support they have shown the family during this difficult time. It is truly appreciated. Online condolences may be sent to sweenysfh@eastlink.ca, or you may sign the guest book online at www.sweenysfuneralhome.net
