The man who often said he would live to be 110 years old died March 3, 2022, at age 77 and we, his family, are saddened by his passing. Clarence Frederick Landers was born on June 10,1944. He was the oldest of four children of the late Gerald and Pauline (Rose) Landers. He lived in the community of Sandford, Yarmouth County, until eight years ago when he became a resident of The Meadows Home for Special Care in Yarmouth. Clarence was a fisherman, and proud of it. He first fished with his uncle Edgar Landers, then with his father Gerald, and finally with his brother Eric. He retired in his late fifties because of limited mobility. Clarence had a very good memory, and loved to tell stories about his days on the water and other events in his life. He was a member of the Sandford baseball team when he was young, and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed bowling.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bernadine (Doucet) Landers, Yarmouth; a sister, Cora (Landers) Goodyear, of Langley, BC and her family; two brothers, Eric (Audrey) Landers and Sidney (Joy) Landers, both of Sandford, and their families. Clarence was predeceased by his parents as well as Bernadine's parents Roger and Gertrude (Gertie) Doucet, her sister Jacqueline (Jackie) (Doucet) Nickerson, her four brothers Josué (Joe), Léo, Abel, and Ulysses Doucet. Clarence thought the world of his family, and his wife's family as well.
Heartfelt thanks from the family to the staff of the Evergreen Unit at The Meadows, to Dr. Natalie Horton and Dr. Julie Chandler for their care of Clarence over the past eight years.
