Obituary for Cathy Lynn Hurlburt

Hurlburt, Cathy Lynn, Age 58 of Yarmouth/Truro, NS.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cathy; Our Heavenly Father brought Cathy home on Saturday, January 30, 2021, with family by her side. Cathy fought a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 15, 1962 in Yarmouth, NS. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Ross) Hurlburt. Cathy worked at Foodland, Bible Hill, and enjoyed all things beach, gardening, designing jewelry, and thumbing through her mother’s cookbooks. Family and friends were very important to Cathy- just knowing that they were there, either by her side, or in their thoughts, made Cathy’s days much brighter. To those closest to Cathy, she was simply known as “Sassy”.

She is survived by partner Wayne Ellis, Truro, daughter Zoey (Michael) Babin, Calgary, AB, brothers Richard (Nancy), Hebron, Gary (Teresa), North Ohio, sister Patricia Baker, Central Chebogue, sister by choice Debra Gloade, Gardner’s Mill, special niece Shelley Nickerson, Central Chebogue. Cathy is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces/nephews, as well as great great nieces/nephews- all of whom she loved dearly.

Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Elizabeth, brothers Robert “Bobby” and Gerald, along with nephew “little” Gary.

As per Cathy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or viewing. Cremation has taken place under the care of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth.

Special thanks to “Cathy’s Dream Team”: Yarmouth/Halifax Oncology Unit, Palliative Care Unit, 4 North- Yarmouth Regional Hospital. You all made Cathy’s journey a little bit easier, not only for Cathy, but for her family as well.

No flowers by request. Donations in Cathy’s memory can be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund.Online condolences may be sent to sweenysfh@eastlink.ca, or you may sign the guestbook online at www.sweenysfuneralhome.net
