Obituary for Captain Clayton Gordon Goodwin

Captain Clayton Gordon Goodwin- age 70 of Central Argyle passed away on April 9th,2021. Born in Yarmouth, NS on October 12th ,1950, he was the second child of the late Keith and Reta (Crosby) Goodwin. Clayton was a loving husband to his wife Judith for 48 years and always wanted the best for his two sons, Howard Keith Goodwin (Marianne), Argyle Head, and Clayton Gordon Goodwin Jr., Ottawa. He is survived by his brother, Havelocke Goodwin (Lela) and brother-in-law, Allen Spinney. He was predeceased by his parents and our special sister, Nina. He began his education at Central Argyle School and finished at Halifax Nautical Institute. He retired after working 27 years on various passenger ferries- from Seaman (Deckhand) to Captain. Clayton wanted to express his heartfelt thanks to “all” who took their time to have a yarn (conversation) with him. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Monday, April 12th , 2021 from 1-2pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 2pm, both from the Sweeney’s Funeral Chapel, Yarmouth. Interment will take place in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Argyle. Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Tri County VON, Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund or the Yarmouth Hospice Society for their purchase of a cuddle bed in Palliative Care. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all who loved us and cared for him in so many ways.
