Obituary for Brian Robert Devine

DEVINE, Brian Robert - 56, of Canaan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 10th, 2023 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, after a short battle with cancer.

Born on October 9th, 1966 in Hamilton Ontario, he was a son of the late Robert Horton Devine and Lois Jean (Scott) Devine of Plymouth. Brian is survived by his children who he loved dearly, Kyle (Sara) Devine, Berwick; Galisa Devine (Alex Deveau), Hebron; Grandchildren, Finn & Archer Devine; Partner, Lauralee Fuller and her daughter Alexcia Doucette; Brother, Dan (Sacha) Devine, New Glasgow and Mother of his children, Patty Muise of Hubbards Point. Brian will be sincerely missed by his dog Charley, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, niece and nephew.

Anyone who knew Brian would say his quick wit answers and sense of humour were unmatched, never missing an opportunity to make people laugh, even in his final days.

His love of the woods; four wheeling, fire making and hunting with his companion Lauralee, kept him entertained for hours on end. Brian could be found in the woodpile every Saturday with his best buddies Mike and Matt who will miss his presence greatly. When Brian wasn't in the woods, he was chasing his two girls' dance dreams to practices, performances and competitions. His love for Kidzact was seen by everyone.

He was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoyed his many years playing in the old timer's baseball league, just as his father did. He shared a passion for sports with his son and wished to watch his grandsons grow up, following in his footsteps.

His work family at the Environment Depot will feel a tremendous loss as he was cherished by each and every one of them. He loved his job and the people he worked alongside equally.

Brian enjoyed one last gathering at one of his favourite spots, the family camp in Brazil Lake, where much love and laughter was shared that day. It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye but we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited in the arms of his loving parents "Bob and Lois."

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the incredible doctors and nurses in oncology, as well as the 4th floor staff, for the care and compassion he received. A special thank you to our saving grace, Lisa d'Eon, social worker, whose support and comfort did not go unnoticed.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation or memorial service, by family request. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Kidzact Studio in Tusket on October 9th, 2023 at 8337 Trunk #3, between the hours of 1:00PM - 3:00 PM.
