Obituary for Basil Prescott Adams

ADAMS, Basil Prescott – 95, of Veteran’s Place, Yarmouth, and formally of Chegoggin passed away peacefully at Veteran's Place on August 15th, 2012 in the presence of his family. Born in Shag Harbour in 1917, he was a son to the late Edgar and Ethel (Fernandez) Adams. Basil was a lifelong fisherman and a kind and gentle man who served with the Canadian Army in WWII. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He is survived by his sister, Pauline Harris, Hamilton O.N., sister-in-law, Elizabeth Coupar, Truro/Dartmouth; son, Bruce ( Rosemarie ) of Vancouver; daughters, Caroline Corning (John), Halifax; Patricia Hauer (Calvin),Abbottsford B.C., Fran Pippy (Shaun),Yarmouth; Valerie Smith (Stewart), Ottawa; grandchildren, Sean Corning (Samantha); Jennifer Muise (Jason); Barbara Ann and Ashley Adams; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ireland and Georgia Muise and Jack and Finn Corning. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his wife of 63 years Tracey (Collins); brother, Samual; sisters, Addie (Purdy), Winifred (Teasdale) and Florence (Swann). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A committal service will take place at the Chegoggin Cemetery on Monday, August 20th at 2:00PM with Pastor Paul Parks officiating. Donations in Basil’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
