Sweeney, Barbara Joyce- age 69, of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at Harbourside Lodge on August 27, 2020. Born in Yarmouth on April 8, 1951, she was a daughter to the late Vernon and Alda Sweeney. Barb was known by many and brought a tremendous amount of joy to her family and friends. She was one of the original residents of Harbourside Lodge. She entertained many people, and those who knew her often have a funny story or several; they could tell about Barb. Having a bit of a sweet tooth, she loved her chocolate bars (with No Nuts!), Jell-O, and ice cream. She is survived by her sister, Elaine (Wayne) Kehoe; brother, Kendall (Liz) Sweeney, Stewiacke; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Don. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 30, 2020, from 6-8 P.M. at Yarmouth North Baptist Church. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, August 31, 2020, at 2 P.m. from Yarmouth North Baptist with Dr. Shawn Kehoe and Rev. Raymond Pitcher officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall vestry. Interment will take place at a later date in Chegoggin Cemetery. Donation in Barb’s memory may be made to Harbourside Lodge. The family wishes to thank the nurses and care workers at Harbourside Lodge for the love, care, and compassion they have shown Barb over the past 40 years; it is genuinely appreciated.
