CROWELL, Arthur Leonard “Arcy” – age 84, of East Kemptville, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on November 5,2019 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in East Kemptville on February 2,1935 he was a son to the late Arthur Leonard Crowell Sr. and Stella Barnaby (Roberts) Crowell. Arcy was a member of the Kemptville United Baptist Church. He worked for the Department of Highways for many years and once received an award for not missing a single workday in 20 years. One of his most enjoyed past times was singing and playing his guitar. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gladys Belle Crowell (Hurlburt); daughters, Bonnie (Doug) Smith, Fredericton, N.B.; Susan (John) Frizzell, Halifax; sons, Jason (Joy) Crowell, Halifax; John (Jennifer) Crowell, Kemptville; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and his special 4 legged “baby girl” Sophie. Arcy was the last surviving member of his immediate family and besides his parents was predeceased by his siblings; Vera, Shirley, Clara, Earl, Neil, Calvin, Eldon. “Uncle Arcy” also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Friday November 8 from 6-8 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in East Kemptville Free Baptist Meeting House Cemetery, Minor Road. Donations in memory may be made to the MS Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.
