Obituary for Arlene Janet Clark

Arlene Janet Clark R.N. of Tusket Falls, N.S. passed away on the 26 April 2023 at the Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle, N.S. Arlene was born at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital to her father Frank Olsen and mother Lorena (Smith) of Pembroke Shore, N.S.. Upon her graduation from the Yarmouth Hospital School of Nursing in 1967 she began her nursing career as a staff nurse in Charlottetown, P.E.I.. In Oct 1969 Arlene married Brian Clark, her husband of 53 years. When Brian was transferred to different detachments she continued her career working at the Blanchard Fraser Hospital, Kentville, N.S., Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, N.S., Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, Ontario and in Sep 1976 she returned to Yarmouth continuing her career at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital until her retirement in 2006.

Arlene is survived by her husband Brian, daughters Valerie (Paul) Pothier of Wellington,N.S., granddaughters Erica and Laura Pothier, Susan (Danny) Clark-Saulnier, granddaughters Jamie, Britney (great granddaughter Chelsea), Hannah of Gibbons, Alberta and Catherine (David) Matson, grandsons Clive, Nigel and Warwick of Spruce Grove, Alta. She was predeceased by her parents and her older brother Clarence, however she is survived by brothers William (Bill) Olsen and Larry Olsen of Pembroke Shore, N.S. and sisters Carol (Robbie) Blanchard, Ellershouse, N.S. and Sheila (Bill) Dewar, Halifax, N.S. and many nieces and nephews.

Arlene was a very caring and compassionate person who always thought of the needs of others before herself, her passing has left an unfillable void in our hearts.

Our family was very fortunate to have the compassionate care and guidance of Doctors, Joe Gillis, Julie Chandler and Peter Loveridge to help Arlene and her family through this terrible journey. To all the staff at the Nakile Home for Special Care, your kindness, empathy and support will never be forgotten, you became our second family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth and cremation will take place at a future date followed by interment at the Chegoggin Cemetery. There will be no visitation by family request. Donations can be made to the charity of choice. There will be no Funeral Service at this time.
