Obituary for Annie Laura Wood

Annie Laura Wood
WOOD Annie Laura – age 101 passed away peacefully on July 3, 2018 with her family by her side in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on May 20, 1917, daughter to the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Bullerwell) Hamilton, Laura was the matriarch of her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She also loved the Lord and her church family, often hosting bible study at her home in Raynardton. A tireless woman, Laura worked side by side with her husband, Leslie, in establishing Leslie Wood Fur Farms Ltd. and Wood Berries Inc. Along with her sons and grandchildren whom she instilled her strong work ethic, she continued to play an active role in farm life. At 100 years old, Laura could still be seen in the fields picking strawberries or blueberries. An avid outdoors-woman, Laura enjoyed fishing and hunting. She shot her last moose at the age of 96 on a hunting trip in Newfoundland and shot her last deer last fall at 100 years young. In her spare time, she loved to garden and play games with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Ronna (Fred) Churchill, Raynardton; sons, Bill (Gail) Wood, Raynardton; Tim (Marla) Wood, Yarmouth; Laurie (Beth) Wood, Canaan; sister, Ethel Raynard, Tusket Falls; grandchildren, Jody (Jim) Rossiter; Lesley (Dwayne) Landry; Chris Churchill; Darren Churchill (Darlene LeBlanc); Tanya (Len) Amiro; Jedd (Laurel) Wood; Caleb (Jen) Wood; Mallory (Shayne) Pottie; Matthew (Lauren) Wood; Morghan Wood (Brett Adams); great grandchildren; David, Evan, Kate, Lexi, Dylan, Cassidy, Isabella, Autumn, Jesse, Oliver, Owen and Cooper. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Wood; brothers, Donald, Arnold, Lloyd, Harold; sisters, Ardis, Edith and Marguerite in infancy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Thursday July 5th, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Friday July 6th, 2018 at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eric Whitehouse officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Gavelton.
