CORNING (Foulis), Anne Louise

It is with great sadness that we the family of Anne Louise Corning, age 89 of Yarmouth, announce her passing on Friday, December 27, 2019 after a brief illness in Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Born in her family home on September 13, 1930 in the village of Chebogue, NS, Anne was the eldest daughter of the late James and Deborah (Smith) Foulis. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Jack Reddy Corning; parents-in-law, Fred and Marguerite Corning; brother-in-law, Robert L. Nelson and nephew James Nelson.

Anne grew up in Yarmouth and as a young woman was musically involved in church and school choirs and local bands playing the piano. Through her life she shared her love of music with her husband and family. She worked at various jobs and organizations such as the YMCA, the Boston-Yarmouth Steamship Company and the Toronto Stock Exchange. It was in Toronto and Petrolia, Ontario that Anne and Jack began their young family before eventually moving home to settle in Yarmouth where they raised six children. Our mother was loving, strong and loyal to her family and friends; she persevered through many trials and tribulations.

Through the years she gave of her time and friendship and taught us the true value of paying it forward by doing kind deeds for others and teaching us to think beyond our own needs and desires.
For many years Anne volunteered for various community groups such as the YMCA Board and YMCA Whitecaps Swim Team; she tirelessly volunteered for the Canadian Blood Services up until this last Blood Donor’s Clinic in December. She was an active member (up until 2019) and a lifetime member of the IODE organization. In earlier days she was involved as a Kinette in the Kinsmen’s Club of Yarmouth. Also, up until it’s closing, she was a member of the local Opal Rebekah Lodge #45.

Over the year’s mom enjoyed spending time with family and friends gathering at the family camp at Lake Jesse. She was happiest surrounded by her family and in particular her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved so very much.

Anne is survived by her children, Randy (Arlene) Corning, Gwen (Todd) Nickerson, Stephanie Corning, Nola (Darren) Fyfe, Tim (Cynthia) Corning and Tom (Juanita) Corning; her 10 grandchildren, Peter Corning and Breaton Corning, Maggie Nickerson, Jessica Koenig and Tim Deveau, Kristin McCall and Kate Mallin, Garett Corning, Taylor Corning and Samuel Corning and 10 great-grandchildren. She is survived by and will be missed by her sister Alice Nelson, sister-in-law Hilda Corkum and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium in Yarmouth. Cremation has taken place and in respect of Anne’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no formal service at this time. A graveside service will take place at a later date in the Chebogue Town Point Cemetery. A date will be determined and announced this summer. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Chebogue Cemetery Company or a charity of your choice. On line condolences may be made to
