Obituary for Alvina Mary Pothier

Pothier Alvina Mary – age 92 of The Villa St Joseph du Lac, passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on April 2, 2018. Born in Comeau’s Hill on August 28, 1925 she was a daughter to the late John and Fannie (Fitzgerald) Surette. Alvina was a member of St. Michaels Parish in Wedgeport and St. Ambrose Co Cathedral in Yarmouth. She was also a member of the Bluenose Twirlers and Country Kickin Dance Club. Her career consisted of working 30 years for M.A. Henry Toy Factory in Toronto. She is survived by her brother, Clinton Surette (Angie) USA; sisters, Loretta (Norman) Saulnier, Yarmouth and Regina LeBlanc, Wedgeport. Besides her parents Alvina was predeceased by her husband, Paul; brothers, Herbie, Donald, Bert and Bertell in infancy; as well as her son John in infancy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Thursday April 5, 2018 from 7-9 P.M. with prayers at 8 P.M. A catholic funeral service will be held Friday at 11 A.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Henry Smolenaars officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
