Obituary for Agnes Eleanor Smith

Agnes Smith, 93, of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2022. Born in Rhode Island, USA, on November 29, 1928, she was the only child to the late John and Ellen Bray.
Agnes was a long-standing member of the Sandford United Baptist Church, a past craft guild member and a faithful TOPS member. She had many talents and past times, including painting, drawing, knitting, and gardening. She also loved to bake; you may remember her famous "mile high" lemon meringue pies at Harris's Seafood and the Quick and Tasty! Being a fisherman's wife, she enjoyed fishing but also had her own interesting jobs over the years. Starting with her first job at the Yarmouth Royal store making $9.00 a week, managing the 'Snackery' to becoming the Harbour Master in Sanford and lots in between.
She was a caring mother, grandmother and friend and was very family orientated. Whether donating to charities, sharing plums, jams and pies with neighbours or knitting hats for the newborns at the hospital, she was always thinking of others.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon LeBlanc (Arnold Garron), Yarmouth; son, Greg (Bonnie Moore), Summerville; grandchildren, Andrea; Susanne; Shannon; Michael and Amber; 12 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Fielding Smith and one grandson in infancy. Her pets were also much a part of her family, her cat, Ginger, who she rescued, and her constant companion, her dog Sadie.
A funeral service will be held Monday, October 24, 2022, at 1 pm from the Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Joyce Trask is officiating. Interment to follow in the Darlings Lake Cemetery. Family Flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sandford United Baptist Church or the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
The family would appreciate it if masks were worn during the Funeral Service.
